It’s back. The spring-cleaning tool, the treasure chest, the junk house, the recycler… what ever you want to call it. The Swap Shed is back.
Jane Shaw, a worker at the Valemount’s transfer station, is pleased that building is back. But she hopes that people start bringing their junk in slowly. Shaw doesn’t want to see a giant wave of items come in as they might just end up in the trash if it gets too much.
“I’m delighted to see the community is making good use of it already. The items that are going into the swap shed are being recycled. They are not going to the landfill, so every little bit helps,” said Shaw. “People are just delighted because it is like Christmas all over again.”
Last Friday found a few people in the new building, like Greg Schaefer and Henry Unger.
Schaefer said that the best thing he ever found at the dump was a turbo charger for his pickup. “I’m still using it today,” he said.
Unger found an impressive looking dictionary on Friday.
The original Swap Shed was demolished in November when vandals knocked it down.
