For teachers and parents who may have been concerned that Valemount and McBride could end up with a single high school principal after Valemount’s principal stepped in to cover for the short term, those fears can be laid to rest.

The school district is advertising for a new principal; the closing date for applications is June 25.

According to Valemount principal Dan Kenkel, outgoing principal Rick Thompson will move on to another position within the district, as the principal of a new student information system that was piloted in McBride.

Thompson was unavailable for comment before the time of publication.
