I’ve noticed over the last couple of weeks that both papers have been reporting about the “Mayor and Andru Issue.”

So from what I understand, the Mayor used the term ‘redneck’ about our town with the best intentions behind the word. I can safely say that she didn’t mean to use it in a negative way; the meanings of words change everyday, and heck, even new words are created. As for the terms of them, every single person on this earth may have a different meaning for the same word. I ask you all to keep in mind that words can have both pros and cons to them, but it is how you, the people, understand them.

When Andru was doing his interview, he reported the facts, which is what reporters do. He was doing his job. That’s exactly what both of them were doing, surprise, surprise. I enjoy reading both papers, both are great in their own unique ways, and to see that both papers are being used to argue and point fingers at each other, which in my opinion, I’m going to be blunt here, SUCKS.

The point of having a newspaper is to give people the news, not be used as propaganda. This goes back to when we were all young and in school, if two kids are fighting about what ever, they get sat down and it’s talked about and it doesn’t escalate to the point where it’s made public for the world to know. If the Mayor and Andru, would just sit down, talk, like civilized people, maybe, just maybe they’d work things out. Neither of them was wrong, just because of a difference of opinion the newspapers should not be turned into a mudslinging ground. So instead of focusing on little squabbles in our community why not look at the issues that are really pressing us, like the water issue for example, or even ways to improve our community.

Thank you.
