So much so, that in reaction to a proposed water bottling plant just north of Valemount, a group has formed to try and protect ground water in the area and discourage the sale of bottled water. |

Everything old is new again

At the ‘Life of the Times’ celebration in Dunster on Friday, I was reminded of our coverage of the Daam property fiasco in 2004 by Chuck McNaughton, a long time resident and friend of the Daams.
At the time I was touched that Chuck and his neighbours Curtis Culp and Claude Hill would ask me for help.
To this day, Chuck is under the impression that the newspaper coverage had something to do with the land not being logged and turned back into ‘friendly hands.’ I’m not sure it’s true, but I am very proud of this story and proud of the community for the actions taken to get the land back! - Andru McCracken
